If you own an iPhone, odds are that you are well on your way to being into this idea.  A very hipster idea.  It’s an app called Hipstamatic.  Get it.  Get it now.  No one I know has been sorry they paid the two bucks.

When you buy the app, pictures you film with it take on a distinctly vintage feel.  Observe…

Reminds me of old photo album snapshots from when my parents were teenagers.  I’m sure they would bemoan the prospects of a generation of people longing to take photos of intentionally subpar image clarity.

But that’s why we are who we are.

With Hipstamatic, you’re given a variety of seven lens flares, grains, frayed edges, saturations and contrasts.  Explore, damn your eyes!  Turns even a novice into an amateur photog.  You can even purchase an expansion pack with more lenses and color variety.

Next week, a very special “Just Off Fountain”  (cough, Silver Lake, cough) will feature all Hipstamatic photos.  Keep an eye out!  In the meantime, let’s pair one throwback with another.  Remember this book as a kid…?
